Clinical Placement Model

The Objective

The project aimed to develop a clinical placement model for Dental Health Services Victoria (DHSV) that standardises and better integrates clinical placements undertaken in publicly funded dental clinics across Victoria.

Our Approach

The project approach included:

• Outlining the current clinical placement model;
• Analysing the impact of a preferred model for the Department of Health, DHSV and Community Dental Agencies; and
• Determining strategies for the enhancement of the clinical placement program.

The Outcomes

The project developed a proposed clinical model that is consistent with, and addresses variations in placement experience and enables effective work/employment ready graduates, including a set of principles for the future model and core enhancements to the current placement model.
