The Objective

The aim of this project was to undertake an evaluation of STEPMI (Services and Treatment for Enduring and Persistent Mental Illness)services in Western Victoria to examine the delivery of services, the impact and effi ciency of the model, to identify gaps within the service delivery arrangements and to recommend enhancement opportunities.

Our Approach

The STEPMI program was assessed against three domains: appropriateness, effectiveness, and efficiency. A program logic was developed, with input from contracted service providers and the PHN, for the evaluation.

The Outcome

WVPHN used the findings and recommendations from the evaluation to:

  • Inform future co-design and procurement processes for these services across the region;
  • Refi ne performance measures towards targeted outcomes;
  • Implement sustainability and cost-effectiveness of the current model; and
  • Introduce required capacity-building activities to support the workforce.
